Dear Parents!

Merry Christmas!!!! We hope you are enjoying a restful, peaceful week full of great family memories as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ! What a wonderful time of year!

Here are a few things that have been going on at GU this last month:

We have been preaching a series called “Shout Out” for the month of December talking about living a life that shouts out about the greatness of our God! It is so amazing to take some time as we end out this year to reflect on what God has done in our lives. And, to take that message of hope to the people all around us!

On the last Wed of the year (Dec 30), we will have a special “Shout Out” service to pray, worship & celebrate Jesus!

Starting January 6th, we will be diving into a new series called “Pursue”. We are launching into the New Year with passion & intensity as we pursue Jesus more in our lives. We will be handing out a new “Pursue journal” on January 6th that our leaders & young people will be able to use that includes a Bible reading plan, prayer card, and all sorts of tools to help each of us go deeper in our personal devotional time. Also, starting January 7th, we will be encouraging all of the young people in GU to join us in a one-month “Media fast” to prepare our hearts for all God wants to do in 2010. During the media fast, we encourage all young people to fast from listening to secular music, watching movies or TV, social networking websites, web surfing, video games, etc. in order to re-focus our hearts & minds on Jesus. And, we encourage everyone to spend extra time reading the Bible & in prayer & worship! It’s going to be an amazing month!!!

Also, we are collecting testimonies on our website about what God has done in young people’s lives through the GU conference. We would love it for some parents to also submit their “GU story” from the perspective of a parent. Go to www.GenerationUnleashed.com and click on “My GU Story” to submit a testimony or to read/ watch some that have already come in.

For our CBC young people, we get a special discount to be able to pay for 1 conference, but attend both. Sign-ups for the GU conference have already begun, and you can sign-up online, or by using the forms in the church lobby & turning them in on a Wed night or during weekend services.  Worship Workshops:

These workshops are open for any young people who play an instrument and would like to get more involved. This is the first step for musicians to get involved in worship by learning songs, practicing skills & getting to know our worship team. We also have devotional times together! These are very important for all the musicians (new AND those currently playing on the team) to attend!

 

Here are the upcoming worship workshop dates:

- January 6th: 5:30pm- 6:15pm at MP

- February 3rd: 5:30pm- 6:15pm at MP

 

Weekly Happenings:

Wednesday night GU-

Pre-service prayer begins at 6pm, we ask young people to be a few minutes early. We have the cafe open from 6:30-7pm with $1 pizza slices/drinks.

GU service begins at 7:00pm, and ends at 8:30pm, followed by fellowship time until 9:00pm.

Sunday morning & Saturday evening Jr. High tracks-

After worship at the Saturday night and Sunday 2nd service, all Jr. High students go to the green room for Jr. High teaching & small group discussions.

Small Groups-

We are continuing to grow & develop more small groups all the time for each age group (Jr. High, High School & Young Adults). If your young person is not in a small group, please have them contact us & we will connect them with the right people to get connected to a small group just for them! Also if you are able to be involved in leading, assisting or being a host home for a GU small group please let us know…we would love for you to be involved!

We are excited to announce that we have a new interactive website that is up & running! It has a Mill Plain Campus page so you can check for updates and events anytime you want. This will develop into a very interactive resource for young people and parents to use… more info to come on that!
